As we enter a New Year i would like to thank all the stations that were on air this year and years gone by.

In January 2009 i started this blog. I never thought i would be still doing it almost 16 years later.

 It was around 1976 as 12 year old when i first started listing to the radio.

Here in 1976 we only had one legal station Radio Eireann which had about 4 or five music programs a week on it. 

We had a few Dublin pirate stations on medium wave which could be picked during the daytime here in Kildare and one local pirate radio  station which was only on at the weekends. Dublin pirate radio stations were hard to hear at night especially in wintertime when the strong legal European stations would wipe them out. 

So i began Listening to Radio Luxembourg and was amazed how a small radio could pick Radio Luxembourg and other stations so clear. 

By the time the 80's came Ireland pirate radio scene was booming and much of my time was spent listening to these stations.

At around 1987 i bought my first Shortwave radio and in 1988  i was listening to Radio Fax and its interesting programs, Unfortunately by the end of 80's  i was a young man with other things on my mind and stopped listening to Shortwave.

In around 1997/98 i started listing to Shortwave again and bought my first digital radio and  have never looked back since.

In that time i have heard so many stations on both Shortwave and Medium wave and would like to thank them all. Some are still with us while some have sadly passed away.

For me listening to the radio has bought me great pleasure and hopefully it will for a many years to come.
